Our story

South American Oven is a family business that began with friends sharing a passion for healthy food and ideas of bringing the food culture of South America to our community. Driven by our creativity and desire for a self-sustainable lifestyle and honouring our awareness to recycle materials we turned our vision into reality by building our first oven from a recycled oil drum (very typical in South America).

Our food stall was born in late 2013 when we joined the Ostend Market on Waiheke Island. Since then our small business has grown into a well-known food truck that also caters for functions and is now part Harbour Eats at Commercial Bay in Auckland CBD.

Our Empanadas

All our baked argentinian empanadas are handmade from scratch from carefully selected ingredients. The dough, the fillings, the shape and the sauces carry our love and passion which you can sense with every bite. Because everyone has different needs, tastes, and priorities, our menu offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan selections, as well as the traditional meat empanadas.

If you enjoy rich flavours and healthy foods, you will love the experience of our delicious baked argentinian empanadas.

Empanadas love to be heated in the oven, they do not like microwaves as this way of heating makes them quite soggy.
This is how to re-heat our empanadas with the best outcome for a delicious meal:

– Preheat your oven to 200C
– Place empanadas on a tray lined with baking paper and heat for 10 minutes
– Let them cool down slightly to fully enjoy their rich flavours
